Wye Waste Paper is committed to maintaining and developing excellent standards of Health and Safety.
All employees of the company have a personal responsibility to ensure that we establish a safe working environment on all sites that we service.
All staff are trained to very high standards to enable them to carry out their duties safely and efficiently.
Any equipment supplied by us will be compliant with health and safety and a Fact Sheet outlining its safe and proper use will be provided. Training will also be given on any mechanical equipment installed by us after commissioning.

Please pass this information to your Health and Safety Manager.
• Please ensure that whilst WWP drivers are on your site, the work area is kept clear of pedestrians and obstacles. Personnel who are assigned to the area must stand well clear of any moving vehicles and be in full view of the driver at all times. WWP drivers must not assist in any duties other than those they are train to carry out.
• Customers are advised to carry out risk assessments regarding the safe handling of wheelie bins provided for waste paper or packaging. A full wheelie bin of paper will weigh up to 250 Kg’s.
• WWP drivers are forbidden to carry bins up or down stairs and we recommend that your staff adopt the same safe working practice.
• Empty wheelie bins are normally provided for customers to fill at their own convenience, either with waste paper for recycling, packaging or confidential documents for security destruction. When the bins are full please place them at a suitable collection point where our collection vehicle has access.
• Please advise WWP of any access requirements i.e. HGV access only allowed in certain areas or any time restrictions on collections.
• Please be aware that paper can cause a fire hazard. Please ensure that bins are stored away from any source of heat and where possible away from your building. Never block fire exits or fire equipment.
• Customers must inform WWP immediately if any equipment provided is found to be damaged or unfit for use. Suitable replacements will be provided.
• Please ensure the bins are only used for their intended purpose which is the storage of waste paper, packaging or secure waste for destruction. No sharp objects should be put into bins because they may cause a hazard to anyone processing the contents.
• WWP drivers have been instructed to obey customers’ site safety rules at all times. Please inform the driver of any special instructions or call the WWP office on 01531 670663. Please provide any written instructions available.

• Please DO NOT allow your staff to climb on top of any skips or bins, this is both dangerous and unnecessary. The ladders on the skip are for WWP drivers only.
• WWP drivers are not permitted to lower skips on to public highway, therefore adequate space should be provided to make the skip change over on site.
• Please ensure good access to skips at all times as we may carry out an exchange in the early hours.
• Open top skips must not be filled any higher than their internal height. This to avoid the danger of material falling off whilst the bin is being loaded.
• Customers must inform WWP Immediately if any equipment provided is found to be damaged or unfit for use. Suitable replacements will be provided.
• Please ensure that only the correct material is placed in the skips provided i.e. cardboard, paper, polythene for recycling. Please inform your staff that non recyclables such as pallets or any other general waste must be segregated.
• Customers will be responsible for the tipping cost of skip contaminated with excessive general waste. Skips which are damaged or burnt out will be charged accordingly. Lost or stolen skips will be charged at replacement cost.
• WWP drivers have been instructed to obey customer’s site safety rules. Please inform the driver of any special instructions or call the WWP office on 01531 670663. Please provide any written instructions available

• All extraction equipment feeding the compactor will be shut down during change over to prevent accidental damage or injury. When the exchange is complete and the replacement bin is locked in place the extraction equipment will be restarted.

• Plastic bins are normally supplied for the collection of paper. This service is used most often by the print industry. The bins provided can be stacked up to six high when empty and should be handled up to three high when full, depending on the safe working load of your forklift truck.
• Customers are advised to carry out risk assessments regarding the safe handling of wheelie bins provided for waste paper or packaging. A full bin of paper will weigh up to 250 Kg’s.
• Please ensure good access to skips at all times as we may carry out an exchange in the early hours.

• WWP drivers have been trained in the safe handling of bins. All driver hold a current fork truck license, we also have fork trucks mounted to the rear of some vehicles this is to enable us to load you waste with the minimum disturbance to your operation.
• For safety reasons, our drivers have been instructed not to operate forklifts in side customer’s premises, but with permission they are allowed to use your forklift outside to load themselves if required.
